The Biomass Trade Center 2 project, co-financed by the EU’s Intelligent Energy Europe Programme, supports the development of the wood-energy supply chain, in particular by improving its logistical, material quality and communication aspects to the general public. The Project CAREGA aims to optimize the local forest-wood supply chain, efficiently using all the parts that can be obtained from the trees.
For this reason, with the aim of enhancing wood products with zero value, such as residuals from forest operations, there is the intention to transform low value material into a high added value product, such as charcoal. The Biomass Trade Center 2 project, co-financed by the EU’s Intelligent Energy Europe Programme, supports the development of the wood-energy supply chain, in particular by improving its logistical, material quality and communication aspects to the general public. Together with the Italian Agroforestry Energy Association (AIEL), we produce the “Guidelines for the assessment of the sustainability of the wood-energy supply chain” and publish a report on the state of the art of certification schemes and commercial labels for biofuels in Italy.
