To avoid purchasing wood from controversial sources, FSC^® certified companies may use Controlled Wood, verifying it through the Centralized National Risk Assessment. We have been working on developing this fundamental document for categories 1 (illegally harvested wood), 4 (from forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use) and 5 (from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted) using the NEPCon template for evaluation of the legal framework of the forestry sector and its guidelines.
