Why invest in environmental sustainability projects

For companies and public administrations, environmental sustainability projects turn goals on biodiversity, climate, and community well-being into measurable and verifiable results. The key to success lies in a scientific approach, co-design with local stakeholders, and the ability to create shared value for the environment, the economy, and society.

What makes a sustainability project effective

An environmental sustainability project is truly effective when it combines:

  • Solid scientific foundations: environmental analyses, data, and clear indicators.

  • Local engagement: participation of institutions, companies, and citizens.

  • Traceability and transparency: results that can be monitored over time.

  • Economic sustainability: financial models that ensure continuity and real impact.

Etifor integrates all these elements into its projects, in Italy and worldwide, to generate tangible benefits for both nature and people.

Bosco Limite, nature just outside the city (Veneto)

A project for peri-urban reforestation and sustainable water management, designed to reconnect cities with nature. Bosco Limite is a peri-urban forest laboratory that combines biodiversity, environmental education, and improved water quality. Over 2,300 native trees have been planted across 2.5 hectares, creating a Forest Infiltration Area that enables natural groundwater recharge (about one million m³ per year). Etifor provides technical consultancy and ongoing forest management to ensure long-term sustainability.

BioClima: public-private finance for biodiversity (Lombardy)

A project of innovative environmental finance that combines public and private resources to protect biodiversity. The BioClima Programme by the Lombardy Region, with technical support from Etifor, mobilized over €5.6 million for 12 projects in protected areas, including around €1.5 million from private investors through WOWnature. The initiative demonstrates how collaboration between public institutions, companies, and citizens can generate real value for ecosystems and local communities.

LIFE ClimatePositive (Italy)

A European project dedicated to forest management associations and territorial climate resilience. LIFE ClimatePositive aims to strengthen forest associations and promote innovative financial tools for sustainable forest management. Etifor coordinates the project, developing methodologies for carbon stock monitoring, shared governance models, and operational toolkits to make forest management more efficient and sustainable.

CIFOR: a new model for artisanal timber production in Yanonge (DRC)

A project for international cooperation and sustainable forest value chains. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, within the FORÊTS project ((Formation, Recherche et Environnement dans la Tshopo), CIFOR (Centre for International Forestry Research) promotes legal and sustainable artisanal timber production to enhance local resources and reduce illegal logging. Etifor supports market development, stakeholder engagement, and the creation of new commercial channels for traceable and certifiable products, generating lasting environmental and socioeconomic benefits.

Molino Pordenone: reducing emissions in flour production

A corporate sustainability pathway focused on reducing emissions along the agri-food value chain. Etifor supported Molino Pordenone in conducting a Life Cycle Assessment to analyze environmental impacts at every production stage, from raw materials to the final product. The plan includes an annual 4.2% reduction in direct emissions and a compensation system for the remaining ones through certified forest projects and WOWnature. A clear long-term strategy up to 2050, built on transparency, scientific data, and shared responsibility.
