Since 2011, we assist AFP (Association of Lowland Forests) in the management of 320 hectares of recreational forests in the Venice area (3 million tourist per year). The forests are both publicly and privately owned and are FSC certified. We deal with fundraising activities (€ 1.7 million in 5 years), project assistance to members, dissemination and promotion activities for the forests.

The Risorsa Terra project aims at ensuring nutrition security through empowerment of women. Homemade food production is encouraged by developing female entrepreneurship linked to wild forest products: shea butter, baobab leaves, moringa leaves and seeds, neré seeds. For this initiative, we are planting 100.000 trees and the creation of business plans and product marketing.

We are actively involved in the stakeholder engagement and in the identification of legally, technically and economically viable systems to implement alternative forest management models.

To avoid purchasing wood from controversial sources, FSC® certified companies may use Controlled Wood, verifying it through the Centralized National Risk Assessment. We have been working on developing this fundamental document for categories 1 (illegally harvested wood), 4 (from forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use) and 5 (from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted) using the NEPCon template for evaluation of the legal framework of the forestry sector and its guidelines.
