A course dedicated to sustainable tourism and GSTC certification
On 6 and 7 June 2024, Federica Bosco, Sustainable Tourism Manager at Etifor and vice-president of the GSTC Italy Working Group, held a course on sustainable tourism according to the standards of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council certification for the first time in Italian.
In addition to the expertise of Federica Bosco, who, as GSTC trainer, led the two days of training, the training saw the valuable contribution of Daniela Vecchiato, Director at Alpe Cimbra DMO, Verena Pasca, Sustainability Manager at Alpe Cimbra DMO and Barbara Marcato, Sustainability Manager at Hotel Moresco.
The course, which took place at the Confesercenti headquarters, aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue sustainable tourism practices. It provided a valuable opportunity to gain insights into the criteria of the GSTC standard for tourism through real-life examples and global and local case studies.
Upon successful course completion, participants receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to take an optional official exam to obtain the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.
The path for sustainable tourism in Siena, Tuscany has started long ago, resulting in the destination certification against the GSTC standard in 2023 after a consultancy with Etifor. The process has inspired the surrounding territories that are now willing to join the challenge.
