The climate crisis requires all sectors to reduce carbon emissions significantly. Levico Acque—a company that bottles natural mineral water from Trentino’s high-altitude springs—has decided to meet this challenge with an ambitious goal: to contribute to a Climate Positive future by removing more CO2 than it emits. This approach reduces the company’s environmental impact and actively contributes to mitigating climate change by generating positive effects on the environment and people.

Levico Acque has embarked on an innovative path to become Italy’s first “Climate Positive” mineral water. Since 2017, the company has been measuring 100 per cent of its CO2 emissions, using a Life Cycle Assessment approach to continuously monitor impacts throughout the entire life cycle of its products. These measurements have led to obtaining the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Following our MARC (Measure, Avoid, Risk, Communicate) approach, Levico Acque has implemented interventions in its production processes that have led it to improve its environmental performance constantly. It reduces its CO2 emissions each year in line with the targets set by the international Science-based target initiative. Since 2024, the company has implemented a participatory plan with its staff and suppliers to reduce emissions further and manage climate risks.

From its inception to 2024, Levico Acque has captured more than 50,000 tons of CO2 by supporting reforestation projects such as those in Bosco Ralser (Brenner) and Bosco Mortise (Padua). These interventions help reduce emissions, preserve biodiversity, and improve ecosystem resilience.

With a long-term commitment, thousands of trees have been planted on dozens of hectares to improve CO2 sequestration capacity and promote biodiversity.
