Integrating Climate Responsibility into a Global Network
The Global Alliance for Banking on Values between Carbon Footprint and certified climate solutions
CLIENT
- Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) Secretariat
Context
Organisations operating at an international level generate emissions primarily through their operational activities and business travel. In the case of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV), professional travel constitutes the main component of its carbon footprint.
To ensure transparency and alignment with its values, GABV decided to measure its greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the capture and storage of the generated CO₂ through certified and verifiable mechanisms.
The project
Since 2024, GABV has implemented a structured pathway based on the MARC approach (Measure, Avoid, Risks, Capture & Communicate).
The first phase focused on measuring emissions through a Corporate Carbon Footprint, developed in accordance with the principles of the GHG Protocol. For 2025, total emissions amount to approximately 30 tCO₂e, with 100% generated by business travel.
Based on these results, a concise report was prepared outlining the carbon footprint data, the methodologies adopted, and the initiatives undertaken.
For 2025, GABV chose to offset 100% of the emissions generated through the retirement of VCS Verra-certified carbon credits, produced by international forestry projects.
In parallel, the organisation contributes to the sponsorship of FSC-certified positive impacts on CO₂ removal, generated by WOWnature forestry projects, thereby supporting the generation of verified impacts on Ecosystem Services.
This approach combines voluntary carbon market mechanisms with contributions to certified forest projects.
Our contribution
Etifor supports GABV in measuring, reporting and managing its emissions through an annual consultancy project.
We developed the Corporate Carbon Footprint calculation model, structured the greenhouse gas inventory, and prepared the reporting framework, including the methodologies and datasets used.
Where applicable, we manage the transfer or retirement of VCS Verra carbon credits on behalf of the client and support the sponsorship of FSC-certified positive impacts generated by WOWnature projects, ensuring transparency, traceability, and alignment with recognised international standards.
The result is a structured annual process that enables the organisation to measure its emissions and contribute to CO₂ capture through certified and verifiable instruments.
