Revision of the FSC National Risk Assessment for Slovenia
Etifor leads the update of the national risk assessment on behalf of FSC International
CLIENT
- FSC International
Context
Slovenia is one of the most forested countries in Europe, with 58% forest cover. Forest management is guided by a strong national policy of “close-to-nature” forestry across nearly 1.2 million hectares of woodlands, supporting an important domestic and pan-EU forest products industry. FSC certification has proven to be a key tool in promoting responsible forest management while supporting the development of wood markets.
In this context, FSC International is updating National Risk Assessments under the new FSC Risk Assessment Framework. The new FSC Risk Assessments represent the evolution of the previous Controlled Wood system and will be aligned with EUDR requirements. The revision process is centralized and, in many cases, led by external consultants.
The project
Etifor has been awarded the contract for the revision of the National Risk Assessment for Slovenia as part of this update process. The objective is to deliver the revised version of the Slovenian NRA in accordance with the methodological guidance defined by FSC International.
