Agricultural and forestry enterprises in Veneto face several challenges in managing land and natural resources. The main obstacles include:

• Land fragmentation, which hinders efficient forest management.
• High planning and management costs, limiting the adoption of sustainable practices.
• Lack of information sharing, leading to coordination issues among sector stakeholders.
• Underutilization of ecosystem services, reducing opportunities for income generation through sustainable management.
• Limited access to funding and investment, crucial for improving forestry practices.
• Lack of training and awareness, slowing the adoption of innovative management models.

CERTI4CLIMA was created to address these challenges by leveraging the opportunities offered by FSC® responsible forest management certification. The project aims to develop innovative tools for managing and digitizing certification-related data, including documents and monitoring information. This will enable small forest owners and industry players to improve operational efficiency and access new environmental and economic enhancement tools.

Etifor coordinated the CERTI4CLIMA project, bringing its expertise in sustainable forest management and technological innovation. Specifically, it has:

• Analyzed the regulatory framework related to certification of positive carbon sequestration impacts.
• Explored cutting-edge technologies for monitoring carbon absorption in forests.
• Designed a digital platform to optimize the management of FSC® group certification, benefiting small forest owners in Veneto.

Thanks to CERTI4CLIMA, forest certification becomes more accessible and efficient, supporting agricultural and forestry enterprises in their transition towards more sustainable and profitable land management.
