Legality and sustainability of agroforestry production and the affirmation of Due Diligence in the new “Zero Deforestation” Regulation.

Are you interested in learning more about the new EU “Zero Deforestation” Regulation? Do you want to understand what Due Diligence is and what it means for agro-forestry production?

With the objective to curb the import of goods derived from deforestation, the European Union is working on a new regulation, already known as “Zero Deforestation”. The regulation, which is expected to be negotiated in the first half of 2022, wants to align European trade policies with the Union’s commitment to environmental protection and climate action.

This webinar, supported by the “LIFE Legal Wood” project, aims to help to better understand the new regulation and the different elements it contains, such as the Due Diligence obligation now extended to other sectors and not only to wood and paper. The meeting will illustrate the legislative process, the aims and the main operational aspects that will involve the companies belonging to the specific product sectors.

DETAILS OF THE EVENT

In the last few months, the political debate in Europe has revolved around the drafting of regulation containing new anti-deforestation measures. The aim of the new regulation is to guarantee access to the EU market for raw materials and products that are not only legal, but also sustainable. Soon, companies will have to prove the sustainability of their supply chains and trace the origin of their products.
