Today, 2 February 2026, Alessandro Leonardi, CEO of Etifor, took part as a speaker in the celebration of World Wetlands Day, held at the FAO headquarters in Rome on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Italy’s ratification of the Ramsar Convention.
The event was promoted by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE), in collaboration with ISPRA, FAO, the Convention on Wetlands (Ramsar Convention), the Lazio Region, and other institutional partners, and brought together representatives of national and international institutions, the scientific community, and organizations committed to the protection of wetland ecosystems.
During Session 3 – “50 years of the Convention in Italy”, Alessandro Leonardi contributed, at the invitation of the organizers, with a presentation focused on innovative financial instruments for the protection and restoration of peatlands and other wetlands, drawing on Etifor’s experience in developing solutions that integrate biodiversity conservation, finance, and measurable environmental impacts.
