Nature Strategy & Delivery Framework

NextEnergy Group, a leading market participant in the international solar sector, has published one of the first Nature Strategies in the renewable energy sector, recognizing the need to properly integrate nature concerns with clean energy development. The strategy, developed with Etifor’s support, establishes a structured approach to managing nature-related risks and opportunities, ensuring that the company operates within planetary boundaries while contributing to a Nature Positive economy.
The strategy is built around four key pillars:
- Assess – Evaluating the impacts and dependencies of operations on nature, including supply chain risks.
- Commit – Setting clear, science-based commitments, such as no conversion of natural ecosystems and the 30×30 nature restoration target, aiming to restore up to 30% of the company’s land footprint by 2030.
- Transform – Integrating nature-based solutions into operations, improving land-use management, and enhancing supply chain traceability.
- Disclose – Ensuring transparency through reporting aligned with TNFD, SBTN, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
The role of Etifor
As a long-term partner, Etifor contributed to the strategy’s development by conducting materiality assessments, mapping nature-related risks, and ensuring alignment with global sustainability standards. Moving forward, we will continue to support NextEnergy Group in implementing these commitments, from natural capital accounting to biodiversity management plans and more.
