  • with passion and interest for European and Italian forest and environmental policies and, especially, for those relating to carbon farming, climate change and biodiversity conservation.
  • with a good knowledge of the concept of sustainability in the agro-forestry sector.
  • with experience in the management and coordination of European and / or international projects.
  • with strong interpersonal skills and an inclination for public relations to have an excellent interaction withing international consortium of various public and private organizations.
  • who is enterprising, dynamic, ambitious, proactive, and concrete, with excellent analytical and scientific skills and capable of solving problems independently and capitalize on opportunities.

The candidate will be responsible to make sure that both the EU projects and the Advocacy-related tasks are as much as possible integrated, creating synergies and win-win approaches. The person will be included in the Etifor Forests Program and his activities should be coordinated with the International Project Development Unit.

‘Forest and Climate Policies Advocacy’ activities:

  • Monitoring policy, legislative and standard setting initiatives on forest and climate change and leading Etifor’s outreach.
  • Contribute to the policy and business positioning of Etifor through participation and organization of events as well as building and maintaining relationships with relevant EU Institution and stakeholders;
  • Representing and pitching Etifor at public events and meetings across the EU.
  • Developing content, such as narrative documents, position papers, and presentation materials for engaging with decision-makers.
  • Identifying and support the development of business opportunities in relation to EU and international climate and environmental policies
  • Conveying updates to the Etifor team on EU relevant topics, e.g. EU Green Deal; Taxonomy; Forest strategy; Carbon Farming, certification initiatives, etc.;
  • Provide the communication team with updates for the website and social media

‘Project Management’ activities:

  • Support the International Project Development Unit within the identification, development, management and implementation of EU R&D, networking, training, and dissemination projects. In particular, the candidate will be involved in the following main projects, that deal with forest carbon certification and landscape resilience:
    > EU LIFE Climate Positive, as technical leader. Therefore, the person will have the responsibility of: (i) the technical coordination of all project partners,(ii) the organization and the animation of the various events organized in the context of the project; (iii) the support to the various public authorities involved in the project in the implementation of specific plans for monitoring the impacts of responsible forest management;
    > EU Horizon ResAlliance, as technical collaborator, through: (i) a support in the preparation of training material that will be used in the courses that will be organized in the context of the project; (ii) a support for the development of technical networks for preparing strategies to prevent the impacts of the ongoing climate crisis in the agro-forestry sector.

Qualifications, experience and skills required

Educational background

Master’s degree requirement in environmental fields, such as, for example:

  • Master’s degree in Forestry and Environmental Sciences;
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences;
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Economics.

Other qualifications may also be considered, based on the candidate’s work experience and passions.

Experiences

At least 2 years’ experience in at least one of the following roles:

  • Advocacy Manager, Engagement Manager, Policy Advisor other roles for public outreach.
  • Researcher/collaborator of research institutions with regard to environmental and forestry issues;
  • Management and / or technical support in European projects (LIFE, Horizon, Erasmus).

Skills

  • Fluent Italian, excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written). Candidates with knowledge of other languages are positively evaluated;
  • excellent problem solving attitude;
  • excellent interpersonal skills to interact with local and international partners
  • good public speaking, reporting and advocacy skills
  • basic knowledge of forestry policies and forestry certifications, especially those relating to the carbon market;
  • strong personal and professional interest on issues of contrasting / adaptation to the climate crisis in progress;
  • excellent knowledge of the Office package and Google Suite

Contract information

Start:  mid October-November 2022

Location: Padova – Piazza A. De Gasperi n. 41. Possibility of remote teleworking or smart working.

Length: 3 years (apprendistato, under 30) or 1 year (over 30), with a view to becoming permanent

Starting gross salary range: depending on experience and contract type.

Contract type: Full time contract (Contratto Collettivo Nazionale Settore Commercio).
